Quick answer
Edit your WordPress profile under Users > Profile or the account menu. Review the public display name and biography before saving personal information.
Applies to
For a WordPress site you are authorized to edit. Your WordPress role, installed theme, plugins and editor determine the available controls. Hosting access does not automatically establish WordPress administrator access. The video shows an older version.
Steps
- Open the profile for your own authorized user. Check the account identity before editing.
- Update the intended display, contact or biography fields. Distinguish the private login name from the public display name and any theme-rendered author information.
- Save with Update Profile and review where public author details appear.
Check the result
Reopen the profile and check a public author/post view when applicable. Preferences such as editor colors may affect only your own administration screen.
Troubleshooting and support
If a contact field change requires confirmation, follow the secure account flow. Do not publish private recovery information in the biography.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
