Server outage is still being worked on.

We've installed the new memory but the RAID card is acting up on reboot.

The admins at the data center are working on the isssue now and will do everthing possible to get the server back online as soon as possible.

We're taking the server off-line again since the new RAID card did not recognize all three hard drives.

UPDATE 06/27/2017 1:12 AM

Here's an overview of the hardware issues experienced in the last 24 hours with our cpanel25 server:

1) Out of memory warnings. We upgraded from 64 GB to 128 GB Memory.

2) RAID Card went bad and needed to be replaced. The main RAID 1 drive is still intact. All 1.4 TB of data.

3) Backup drive failed and wouldn't mount. Replaced it with a brand new 4 TB drive.

We're running a full backup of the server now and will continue to monitor, test and invesitgate to insure the server is stable again.

5:13pm - Client area change cPanel Password feature has been fixed.

11:42am After applying a security patch early this morning we have noticed the Change Password feature to change your cPanel/FTP password is not working. We have contacted the devlopers of the software and are waiting for them to reply. In the meantime if you need your password reset please open a support ticket so we can take care of it for you.

We've discovered during routine maintenance that the main hard drive on the server has some bad sectors. It's just a matter of time before the drive fails. We've decided to bring a new more powerful server online and migrate all sites to it.

We are moving all sites on to the server. We're going to start on the Friday evening US Eastern Time. It should take 24-48 hours to complete. We will continue to monitor the server during the migration process.You should not see any major downtime for your site(s). You may see periodic downtime during the time in which we are performing the migrations.

The old nameservers will still work on your domains so no changes need to be made.

6:24am - We discovered load issues with this server early this morning and found that a memory module is bad. We're replaced the memory ASAP. Downtime will be no longer than 30 minutes.

7:24am - We noticed problems with the Kernel. Admins are rebooting the server and investigating further.

9:40am - The server quit responding. We tried to reboot at the data center but it forced a file system check which failed. The data center admins are now running a manual file system check. If it passes the server will be online shortly.

9:51am - Update from data center admin -The fsck is nearly complete. I will attempt to bring the machine back up once it is complete.

10:11am - FSCK is complete. Server is now having some connectivity issues. Admins are investigating further.

11:05am - Admins could not connect via SSH. Admins are investigating the issue further and should have it corrected as soon as possible.

11:22am - Server is back online and sites are responding normally. Admins will continue to investigate to see why the server crashed and how to prevent it from happening in the future. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

10:30pm - Received an alert from the server that the main drive is about to fail

11:00pm -After further investigation it appears the main hard drive is going to fail soon. We are going to be performing emergency maintenance on this server within the hour. We will be cloning the main drive to a new drive. There shouldn't be anymore than 3-5 hours of downtime.We will do everything we can to keep downtime to a minimum. We do need to act fast and take care of this now before the drive fails completely. If it does fail completely we would then have to do a complete server restore which would take about a day since there is 252gig on the server.

1:18am - Cloning process is 50% done.

2:35pm - Server is back online.

Replace Backup Drive (Resolved) Medium

1:00am - Server will be brought offline to replace the 320gig backup drive with a new 1 TB drive. Expected downtime is no longer than 30 minutes.

8:30am - Admins are addressing issues with the /tmp folder which is causing email and MySQL problems on the server.

9:05am - MySQL issues have been fixed. Admins still looking into email issue.

9:28am - POP email problem has been fixed but Email Forwarder problem is still being looked into.

10:15am - Email forwarder problem has been fixed

12:01pm - Admins discovered /tmp folder was not mounted correctly after the drive replacement which caused all of the problems on the server earlier today. The /tmp folder problem has been fixed. 

Upgrade Backup Drive (Resolved) Medium

8/23/2009 11:00:12 PM - Server is being brought offline now to upgrade the backup drive.


We've noticed the backup drive is full on the server which will be replaced 8/23/09 sometime between the hours of midnight and 4am. Admins will be bringing the server offline to install the larger hard drive during this time slot. The server should be down no longer than 30 minutes. Once the new backup drive is installed we will be able to do archived backups for this server again. We do not forsee any further downtime for this server once this maintenance is completed.
