Quick answer
Edit only the intended text file after saving a recoverable copy. A production file edit can immediately affect visitors.
Applies to
For Interactive Online cPanel customers with File Manager access. The retained tutorial shows an older interface; this guidance uses current File Manager task names.
Steps
- Sign in to the intended Interactive Online service and confirm that File Manager is enabled. Use a harmless example or isolated folder when learning.
- Select the file, preserve a download, then use Edit or the appropriate code editor. Review the encoding and make the smallest intended change.
- Read the result back and open the affected page when the task changes public content. Keep the pre-change copy until verification passes.
Check the result
Save, read the file back and test the affected HTTPS page. Use the CMS editor for ordinary CMS content rather than editing generated output.
Troubleshooting and support
For Permission denied, a missing folder or a different page, compare the actual account, path and permissions first. Do not make unrelated files writable to bypass the error.
Contact support from the owning account with the domain, product/version, exact error, time/time zone and redacted evidence. Exclude credentials, session URLs, payment details and private customer records. Confirm any separate application-support scope.
Original historical tutorial
The original tutorial link and any earlier written lesson are preserved below as historical material. They show an earlier interface and may depend on an old player. Use the current written guidance above and its references when labels or capabilities differ; the old interface does not establish current hosting availability.
