Quick answer
Change the cPanel account password through Password & Security when you are authorized to manage that login. The cPanel password is separate from mailbox and database-user passwords.
Applies to
For Interactive Online cPanel customers with permission to manage the selected service. The tool must be enabled on your plan. Open the correct service from the Client Area before changing anything. The preserved video shows an older interface.
Steps
- Confirm that you are changing the intended hosting account and identify devices or applications using that account credential.
- Open Preferences > Password & Security. Enter the existing password where requested and a strong unique replacement, then complete the account's save/confirmation flow.
- Update the password manager and authorized connections that use this credential. Keep a working recovery route through the Client Area or support.
Check the result
Verify a fresh cPanel sign-in through the trusted service link before ending your working session. Test affected connections separately.
Troubleshooting and support
If you cannot authenticate or the control is restricted, use the supported account recovery route. Never put the old or new password in a support ticket.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
