Quick answer
osCommerce: create a category in the intended store and assign the correct parent, visibility and products. A category existing in admin does not guarantee it appears in navigation.
Applies to
For a customer who operates their own osCommerce store. The retained video uses an older release. Current releases, required extensions and menus can differ. Hosting compatibility, licenses, merchant services and store-development support require their own confirmation; none is automatically included merely because cPanel is available.
Steps
- Confirm the installed osCommerce version, authorized store administrator and exact store/language scope. Preserve a recovery copy and use a protected test store for changes affecting transactions.
- Open the version-appropriate categories controls described in the official osCommerce guide, add or edit the category and review its parent, name, store/language scope, URL and enabled status. Assign a representative product deliberately.
- Save only the intended change and verify the actual storefront and relevant business records before releasing it to customers.
Check the result
Check the category URL, navigation placement, representative product and mobile view. Preserve redirects when an existing URL changes.
Troubleshooting and support
For an empty or missing category, inspect enabled status, store scope, product assignment and theme navigation before creating duplicates.
Contact support from the owning account with the domain, product/version, exact error, time/time zone and redacted evidence. Exclude credentials, session URLs, payment details and private customer records. Confirm any separate application-support scope.
