How to delete an email forwarder in cPanel Print

  • 4

Quick answer

Remove the intended rule in Email > Forwarders. Check its source and destination before confirming deletion; removing a forwarder does not delete a separate mailbox.

Applies to

Interactive Online customers with an email-enabled cPanel service and permission to manage the selected domain. Mail hosted at Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or another provider is managed there. Tools vary by service; the presence of a website does not by itself establish hosted-email entitlement.

Steps

  1. Open Email > Forwarders and find the exact source address and destination. Note the settings in case the rule must be recreated.
  2. Select Delete next to that rule, then confirm the specific forwarder on the confirmation screen.
  3. Check whether the source address still has a mailbox or another route. If it does not, future messages may fail or follow the domain's default-address behavior.

Verify the result

Confirm the rule has disappeared, then send a controlled message and verify the intended remaining delivery behavior. The older video's narration places the confirmation sentence before selecting the rule; use the order above.

Troubleshooting and support

If messages still forward, check other address/domain forwarders and filters at the actual mail provider. Do not remove an unrelated mailbox while investigating. Contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, the exact tool, the time and time zone, the last successful step, and a redacted error or screenshot. Leave passwords, private keys, cookies, and complete configuration files out of the ticket.
