Quick answer
Disk Usage shows which account directories consume storage. Check both file usage and mail/database usage before deciding what can be removed.
Applies to
For Interactive Online cPanel customers with permission to manage the selected service. The tool must be enabled on your plan. Open the correct service from the Client Area before changing anything. The preserved video shows an older interface.
Steps
- Open Files > Disk Usage. Compare the account limit with the reported usage.
- Expand the directory tree and sort by usage to locate large areas. Open File Manager only for a folder you have identified.
- Review backup archives, logs, caches and mail carefully. Preserve a recovery copy before removing required business data; moving a file into Trash may not immediately free its space.
Check the result
Recheck usage after the normal reporting refresh. Confirm the website and mail still work after any separately authorized cleanup.
Troubleshooting and support
If totals differ, check hidden files, Trash, mail and database usage, then provide support with the conflicting totals and timestamp.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
