Quick answer
Check both mailbox usage and total hosting storage, preserve required mail, then free space or adjust the allowed quota. Deleting and recreating the mailbox can destroy mail and is not a quota repair.
Applies to
Interactive Online customers with an email-enabled cPanel service and permission to manage the selected domain. Mail hosted at Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or another provider is managed there. Tools vary by service; the presence of a website does not by itself establish hosted-email entitlement.
Steps
- Open Email > Email Accounts and locate the complete mailbox address.
- Select Manage. In the storage/quota controls, choose an allowed allocation and save with Update Email Settings or the equivalent save control shown in your version. Older videos use Change Quota.
- Compare the mailbox's current usage with its allocation and the whole hosting account's disk usage. Increasing a mailbox limit does not increase the hosting plan's total storage.
- If cleaning up mail, first preserve any required business records. Emptying Trash or deleting mail can remove it from synchronized devices as well.
Verify the result
Reopen the mailbox's management page to confirm the saved allocation. Send a controlled incoming message and check that it arrives. A quota change can take time to appear in usage displays.
Troubleshooting and support
If the account is already full, raising only the mailbox allocation may not restore delivery. Check Disk Usage and Email Disk Usage where available. Do not delete the mailbox to reset its usage. Contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, the exact tool, the time and time zone, the last successful step, and a redacted error or screenshot. Leave passwords, private keys, cookies, and complete configuration files out of the ticket.
When space is available again, check one new incoming message in webmail. Previously rejected messages may need to be resent by the sender. If new mail is still missing, follow the missing-message delivery checks and keep the exact delivery error for support.
