Quick answer
Adjust PuTTY's local font, cursor and colors for readability, then save the intended session. These preferences do not change the website or server configuration.
Applies to
For PuTTY on your own Windows computer and an account with authorized SSH access. Use the hosting service's assigned hostname, port and user. An ordinary cPanel account is not a root login; your service may use a nonstandard SSH port.
Increase PuTTY font size
- Load the intended session and open Window > Appearance for font/cursor controls. Choose a readable monospaced font and size.
- Use Window > Colors/Colours for foreground, background and cursor contrast. Review both normal and selected text.
- Return to Session and Save, then open the session to inspect ordinary terminal output.
Check the result
Confirm text, warnings and the cursor remain readable. Check a saved session reload preserves the preferences.
Troubleshooting and support
If only one session looks different, verify which saved entry you edited rather than changing defaults for every connection.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
