How to set up domain redirects in cPanel Print

  • 4

Quick answer

Use Domains > Redirects to send visitors to a different URL. Choose a temporary redirect while testing unless you are ready for browsers and search engines to retain a permanent move.

Applies to

For Interactive Online cPanel customers with permission to manage the selected service. The tool must be enabled on your plan. Open the correct service from the Client Area before changing anything. The preserved video shows an older interface.

Steps

  1. Record the current source and destination URLs, including HTTPS and any path. Check the site or CMS for an existing redirect.
  2. Open Domains > Redirects. Select the type, source domain/path and full destination URL.
  3. Review www matching and wildcard behavior. A wildcard changes how paths are carried across; enable it only when the destination structure matches.
  4. Add the redirect and preserve a recovery copy of any affected .htaccess rules.

Check the result

Test the exact old URL and a representative subpage in a fresh browser session. Confirm the destination and HTTP status without a redirect loop.

Troubleshooting and support

If the redirect loops or goes to the wrong place, inspect duplicate CMS, Cloudflare and .htaccess rules. A DNS change alone does not redirect a browser.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
