How to set up an autoresponder in cPanel Print

  • 4

Quick answer

An autoresponder sends a scheduled automatic reply for an address. It does not create a mailbox, store incoming messages, or forward them elsewhere.

Applies to

For an email-enabled Interactive Online cPanel service. If Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or another provider handles the domain's mail, manage that service there. Confirm the domain and complete mailbox address first.

Steps

  1. Open Email > Autoresponders and choose Add Autoresponder. Confirm the domain and email name.
  2. Set an interval in hours, then enter an appropriate From name, subject and message. Avoid including private travel or account details in a public automatic reply.
  3. Choose the start and stop times shown by the interface. Check the relevant time zone.
  4. Save with Create/Modify. Ensure the address also has the mailbox or forwarder needed for ordinary incoming mail.

Check the result

Send a controlled test from an address that has not received a reply within the interval. Confirm both the reply text and normal handling of the original message.

Troubleshooting and support

Check the schedule and interval before assuming a missing repeat reply is a failure. Review the real domain mail provider if cPanel never receives the original.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
