Quick answer
Add a separate website domain through Domains > Create a New Domain. Keep its document root separate from the main website when it needs different files.
Applies to
For Interactive Online cPanel customers with permission to manage the selected service. The tool must be enabled on your plan. Open the correct service from the Client Area before changing anything. The preserved video shows an older interface.
Steps
- Confirm domain ownership, plan capacity and the desired folder. Record existing DNS, particularly mail-related records, before changing delegation.
- Open Domains > Create a New Domain and enter the registered domain. Clear Share document root when the new site needs its own content.
- Review the document root and any automatically generated fields, then submit. Older videos use a separate Addon Domains tool and may show an FTP-account option. Interactive Online no longer provides FTP access. Use SFTP over SSH for an eligible account; a legacy FTP subaccount is not an SFTP login.
- Publish only the intended website files to the selected folder and configure authoritative DNS and HTTPS for the new domain.
Check the result
Confirm the domain and document root in the list, then test the HTTPS hostname without replacing the main site.
Troubleshooting and support
If the domain limit is reached or the hostname is already assigned, contact support. Creating a domain in cPanel does not register it or move its mail automatically.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
