Quick answer

Choose the Jetpack features your WordPress website needs, then connect the correct site and owner account through the official setup. A site connection and a WordPress.com user connection are different states. If Jetpack cannot connect, check the exact connection message before changing hosting security.

Applies to

This is for a self-hosted WordPress website on an Interactive Online cPanel service, managed by an authorized WordPress administrator. Your Client Area, cPanel, website administrator and WordPress.com accounts are separate. Jetpack is an optional third-party product; its paid features and support entitlement depend on your vendor plan.

Check the existing website first

Identify the feature you want, such as statistics or a particular backup service. Review existing plugins and hosting services for overlap. Keep a current files-and-database recovery copy and an authorized way back into the website. Confirm current compatibility through Jetpack's requirements and your installed WordPress/PHP versions.

Install and connect the intended account

  1. Open the correct WordPress dashboard. Under Plugins > Installed Plugins, check whether Jetpack already exists. For an approved new installation, use Plugins > Add New Plugin, select the official Jetpack listing and use Install Now, then Activate. Some WordPress versions shorten the menu label to Add New.
  2. Follow the current setup prompt. It can show Connect my site, or an initial Supercharge my site button. The initial screen can state that proceeding accepts terms and synchronizes site data; review those details before continuing. Check the website and WordPress.com account before approving the connection. Keep ownership with the site's authorized owner and review any plan/charge before accepting it.
  3. Open Jetpack > My Jetpack and inspect Connection. A Site connected status alone can mean no individual user is linked. Use the available Connect my account or Connect your user account control when the chosen feature requires that connection.
  4. Some current versions also expose connection information in Settings > Connectors. Inspect the WordPress.com card and its details. Do not disconnect an existing owner merely because your own account is not connected.
  5. Enable one needed feature and check its actual result. A feature card, installed plugin or connected account does not establish that a backup completed or that a paid feature is included.

If Jetpack cannot connect

Record whether the failure is at WordPress.com sign-in, site connection or a specific feature. Confirm the public HTTPS website resolves to the intended installation. Password protection, maintenance mode and blocked connection requests can affect the vendor's access. Jetpack's current requirements include public access to its required connection endpoints.

Ask support to investigate the specific blocked request or connection error. Avoid removing all access controls or disabling a firewall to make a connection pass. A local-only or deliberately private website can need a different supported workflow. Keep the WordPress.com password, connection tokens and private account details out of support screenshots.

Verify the result and get help

Check the intended connection owner, the selected feature and a normal public page. Test the relevant form or other affected function after an authorized feature change. For a connection problem, provide the website URL, Jetpack/WordPress versions, time/time zone and redacted error through support. Hosting support can investigate account connectivity; vendor account ownership, licensing and product-specific issues may need Jetpack support.
