How to create folders in Outlook 2016 Print

  • 4

Quick answer

Create an Outlook folder under the intended mailbox or local data file. Its location determines whether other devices can see it.

Applies to

For an authorized mailbox user. Interactive Online manages settings only for mail hosted on the selected service; mail hosted elsewhere uses that provider's settings. The preserved lesson shows an earlier interface.

Steps

  1. Open the intended application or account and confirm its complete mailbox address and provider.
  2. In the intended folder pane, use New Folder or the version's Folder > New Folder control. Choose its name, content type if shown and exact parent location.

Check the result

Move one harmless test message and compare with webmail when server synchronization is intended.

Troubleshooting and support

Outlook 2016 is out of support. If a folder is missing elsewhere, check whether it was created in a local file or a different account.

Contact support from the owning account with the domain, product/version, exact error, time/time zone and redacted evidence. Exclude credentials, session URLs, payment details and private customer records. Confirm any separate application-support scope.
