Quick answer
Change the selected mailbox password in Email Accounts > Manage, then update every authorized device and sending integration.
Applies to
Interactive Online customers with an email-enabled cPanel service and permission to manage the selected domain. Mail hosted at Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or another provider is managed there. Tools vary by service; the presence of a website does not by itself establish hosted-email entitlement.
Steps
- Open Email > Email Accounts, find the exact mailbox, and choose Manage.
- In the security/password section, enter a new unique password or use the available generator. Save it in your password manager and save the mailbox settings.
- Update the saved incoming and outgoing passwords on each authorized phone, computer, scanner, and SMTP integration. Some clients store the SMTP password separately.
- Test the mailbox through webmail and verify both receiving and sending from each device that should remain connected.
Verify the result
Confirm that the new credential works for the correct mailbox and that both incoming and outgoing authentication succeed. A changed mailbox password does not change the Client Area or cPanel login password.
Troubleshooting and support
Repeated attempts with an old saved password can trigger temporary login protection. Update forgotten devices rather than repeatedly retrying. If compromise is suspected, also review forwarding rules and filters. Contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, the exact tool, the time and time zone, the last successful step, and a redacted error or screenshot. Leave passwords, private keys, cookies, and complete configuration files out of the ticket.
Forgot an email password or changed the wrong login?
Use the email provider that hosts the address. For authorized cPanel-managed mail, an account owner can use the available Email Accounts management controls. A Client Area or WordPress reset does not change this email password. Use the guide to choosing the correct password reset if you are unsure which login is failing. Check incoming and SMTP passwords on every authorized device after changing the email credential.
