Quick answer
Open Check Email for the mailbox in cPanel to test webmail. If webmail works while a phone or desktop app fails, investigate that device's settings separately.
Applies to
Interactive Online customers with an email-enabled cPanel service and permission to manage the selected domain. Mail hosted at Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or another provider is managed there. Tools vary by service; the presence of a website does not by itself establish hosted-email entitlement.
Steps
- Open Email > Email Accounts and locate the exact mailbox.
- Select Check Email. Open the available webmail application, such as Roundcube, if a landing page appears.
- Check Inbox, Spam/Junk and relevant folders. Send a controlled message and reply to it from an address you own.
- Compare the result with the failing device. Check that device's full username, incoming and SMTP credentials, server names, ports, connection security and folder subscriptions.
Verify the result
Record whether receiving, sending, or both fail. cPanel's Check Email can use account single sign-on, so that successful test does not by itself prove that a separately typed mailbox password is correct.
Troubleshooting and support
If webmail also fails, check quota, domain mail routing and the actual mail provider. If only one device fails, preserve its redacted error without changing DNS or creating a new mailbox. Contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, the exact tool, the time and time zone, the last successful step, and a redacted error or screenshot. Leave passwords, private keys, cookies, and complete configuration files out of the ticket.
Email not showing on phone or computer
If a message appears in webmail but not on a device, compare the exact mailbox, folder subscriptions and synchronization settings. Preserve local mail before removing an account or switching between POP and IMAP. If mail is absent from webmail too, use the missing-message delivery checks to investigate delivery before changing the app.
