Quick answer
Post-migration checks should confirm the public website, HTTPS, recent data, email dependencies, and connected services. Different visitors may reach different cached or resolved destinations during a transition, so record which environment you actually tested.
Before you begin
Keep source and destination details, cutover time, DNS changes, and the approved acceptance list available. Do not terminate the old hosting account until its remaining dependencies are understood.
What to do
- Verify domain resolution and the destination serving representative pages. Confirm HTTPS works on required hostnames without bypassing browser certificate warnings.
- Check important content, images, downloads, login, and customer journeys. Verify that recent orders, inquiries, or posts included in final synchronization are present.
- Test email routing separately from website access. Review relevant mail records and coordinated sending or receiving tests without changing unrelated DNS records.
- Check forms, webhooks, scheduled tasks, payment callbacks, analytics, and other integrations against their intended environment. Watch for duplicate jobs from the old copy.
- Monitor errors and support reports, record remaining issues, and agree when old services can be retired after recovery and retention requirements are met.
How to check the result
The migration record should identify tested URLs, data references, service results, and unresolved limitations. A working homepage does not prove that email or all integrations moved correctly.
If you need help
For inconsistent results, provide time, location or network context, browser, and observed destination. Avoid repeated DNS changes while troubleshooting a partially propagated switch unless the recovery plan calls for them.
