Quick answer
If email is missing or you are not receiving email, open webmail for the affected mailbox first and search Inbox, Spam/Junk and Trash. Mail visible there points to a device or mail-app problem. Mail missing there needs a delivery check: confirm the mail provider, storage, filters and any available delivery report. Keep the sender, recipient, time and time zone, subject, bounce and message ID so support can trace the specific message.

This guide covers Interactive Online customers whose email is hosted on an email-enabled cPanel service and who have permission to manage that mailbox. If your domain uses Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or another mail provider, check that provider's webmail and delivery tools. Hosting a website with Interactive Online does not by itself mean its email is hosted here.
Email not arriving: find where delivery stopped
- Confirm the address and provider. Check the full recipient address for spelling errors and confirm where that mailbox is hosted. Record whether one sender or all senders are affected, when delivery last worked and whether DNS, forwarding or the mail provider recently changed.
- Check the mailbox directly. For cPanel-hosted mail, open Email > Email Accounts > Check Email for the exact mailbox, then open the available webmail application. Search the subject and sender across the relevant folders, including Spam/Junk, Trash and any folders used by rules. Check quarantine separately if your mail provider offers it. Use the webmail comparison guide if mail appears there but not in your app.
- Check storage before deleting anything. Under Email > Email Accounts > Manage, compare usage with the mailbox allocation. Check the hosting account's total disk usage too. A full mailbox can stop receiving mail; increasing its allocation does not add storage to the hosting plan. Preserve important mail before freeing space or changing a quota.
- Review delivery rules. Check Email > Forwarders, the mailbox's Email Filters, and Global Email Filters when available to your account. Rules can move, redirect or discard mail. Record existing settings and confirm their purpose with the owner before changing them. If you find an unauthorized destination, follow the forwarder and filter review guide and contact support.
- Look for a delivery event. If available, open Email > Track Delivery, enter the full recipient in Recipient Email (optional), and select Run Report. Use Show All when checking beyond failures. Find the matching sender and time, then record Event, Result and the information view under Actions. The displayed sent time uses your browser's time zone. Available history depends on retained logs; an empty report alone does not prove that the sender never sent the message.
Choose the next step from the symptom
- Mail is in webmail but absent from a phone or computer. Check that the app opened the same mailbox, then review synchronization, folder subscriptions and its secure IMAP and SMTP settings. If another device uses POP, check whether it downloads and removes server copies. Preserve locally stored mail before removing an account or changing protocols.
- Only one sender's messages are missing. Ask that sender for the delivery time and complete delivery-failure notice, if one exists. Review the destination address, spam folders and relevant filters. A deferred event indicates a retry; a rejection needs its exact error investigated. Do not disable spam protection or add broad allow rules based only on the sender's display name.
- All incoming mail stopped after a provider or DNS change. Confirm the domain's authoritative MX records and local or remote email routing against the intended provider. Find where authoritative DNS is managed before editing records. cPanel routing and public MX records are separate controls. If the intended setup is unclear, ask support before changing either.
- Ordinary email arrives but website notifications do not. Follow the website form notification guide. Check the application's authorized sender, provider delivery status and recipient. A form's success message alone does not confirm delivery.
- The report says delivered, but the message is missing. Check the recorded destination and any forwarding or filtering. Acceptance by the next server does not prove that the final inbox displayed the message. The receiving mail provider may need to investigate the next stage.
Verify that receiving works again
After a targeted correction, use an address you control to send one clearly labeled message to the affected mailbox. Confirm that it appears in the intended provider's webmail, then check the affected device. Record the time and result. If the original problem affected only one sender, confirm that sender's next message too. Avoid repeated bulk tests or changing DNS, passwords and filters together.
When to contact Interactive Online support
Contact support from the account that owns the service if delivery still fails, the required tool is unavailable, or you cannot determine the provider or routing. Include the affected domain and mailbox, sender and recipient, approximate delivery time and time zone, subject, last successful step, and the exact bounce, message ID or redacted Track Delivery result. Provide affected addresses privately in the authenticated ticket when needed for a trace.
Review attachments and bounces for unrelated personal information before sharing them. Remove passwords, verification codes, private keys, tokens, cookies and full session URLs. Include only the message content needed to explain the failure.
If only a password-reset message is missing, first confirm the recovery address and service using the guide to choosing the correct password reset. The application must issue the message before its delivery can be traced; changing an unrelated email-client password will not generate it.
Use the recent delivery report
In cPanel, open Email > Track Delivery, enter the actual recipient and select Run Report. Check the displayed retention window and relevant event-type filters. If no event appears, check the application log or the delivery log of any separate mail provider used by the application.

When the delivery error names SPF, DKIM or DMARC
Use the actual bounce or trusted receiving-header result to select the SPF authorization guide, DKIM signing guide or DMARC alignment and policy guide. Identify the sending service and authoritative DNS provider first. Mail already visible in webmail usually needs a device, folder or synchronization check; do not change authentication records merely because one device cannot see it.
