Jetpack 12.8 Launches Jetpack Creator for Monetizing Content and Subscribers

The recently released Jetpack 12.8 brought with it the introduction of Jetpack Creator, a new product designed to cater to users looking to monetize their content and subscribers. This new offering, part of the Growth category, joins the recently launched Newsletter product. Jetpack Creator is aimed at enabling users to earn money through various means such as e-books, courses, paid newsletters, advertising, paywalled access, and other content monetization options. This release comes at a time when the creator economy is rapidly growing, with an expected market size of nearly half-a-trillion dollars by 2027, according to Goldman Sachs Research.

Jetpack Creator is tailored to address the needs of this growing market, offering features such as 40+ blocks for content paywalling, subscriber forms, donations, newsletters, and payment acceptance via Stripe or PayPal. It also extends existing products by allowing unlimited subscriber imports and includes users in Jetpack’s creator network, which aims to provide exposure and audience amplification for creators across WordPress.com and self-hosted sites using Jetpack. The creator network includes features such as author recommendations, powered by the Blogroll block, which allows site admins to recommend other sites to readers and have their site included in others’ recommendations.

In addition, Jetpack includes tracking tools for engagement, such as general traffic stats, email open stats, WordAds revenue, subscriber stats, and a new growth chart. The free plan gives users access to all monetization tools but takes a 10% revenue cut, while the new Creator plan reduces the fees to 2% (plus Stripe fees), which is beneficial for those successfully earning money as online creators.

Jetpack product manager Mike Stott expressed his team’s eagerness to receive feedback on the initial offering and stated that they would continue developing the roadmap based on user input. Future developments for the Newsletter product include the addition of subscriber modal and categories settings into the Jetpack UI, making it easier for content creators to gain more subscribers through the creator network, and facilitating an easier setup process. Overall, the release of Jetpack 12.8 and the introduction of Jetpack Creator demonstrates Jetpack’s commitment to serving the growing needs of content creators and their efforts to provide innovative monetization tools to help creators achieve their goals.
