How to change your Gmail theme Print

  • 4

Quick answer

Change Gmail's theme through Settings and the Theme options available to your account. The theme changes Gmail's appearance, not your website or recipients' email display.

Applies to

For the intended Google/Gmail account. Google controls its login, settings and recovery. An Interactive Online cPanel login does not grant access to a Google account, and Gmail is separate from cPanel-hosted mail. The video shows an older interface.

Steps

  1. Open the intended Gmail account and select Settings.
  2. Find Theme and choose View all or the equivalent theme picker. Select an available theme and review its contrast and readability.
  3. Save or apply the choice, then return to the Inbox. The video's old theme names and theme count are historical examples.

Check the result

Confirm the Inbox remains readable and the chosen theme persists when reopened.

Troubleshooting and support

If theme choices are limited, check the current account and administrator policy. Return to a readable default if the selected background makes messages hard to read.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
