How to configure your settings in Gmail Print

  • 4

Quick answer

On your computer, open the intended Gmail account, select Settings > See all settings, choose the relevant tab and use Save Changes where offered. Gmail preferences and your cPanel mailbox's IMAP/SMTP settings are separate. Older items in the video, including Web Clips and Labs, may no longer exist.

Applies to

For the intended Google/Gmail account. Google controls its login, settings and recovery. An Interactive Online cPanel login does not grant access to a Google account, and Gmail is separate from cPanel-hosted mail. The video shows an older interface.

Which email settings do you need?

For Gmail preferences, use the steps below. To connect a cPanel-hosted mailbox in a mail app, use your mailbox's secure IMAP and SMTP settings. For Gmail web fetching, forwarding or sending from a third-party address, check the current Gmail account-feature guidance first. These are separate tasks and accounts.

Steps

  1. Sign in to the intended Gmail account, select Settings, then See all settings when the full controls are needed.
  2. Choose the relevant section, such as General, Labels, Filters and Blocked Addresses, or Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Record the previous value before changing a mail-handling option.
  3. Use General for relevant controls such as Undo Send, notifications, signatures and vacation replies. Account delegation is a separate access grant, not a display preference; review its scope before changing it.
  4. Change only the required preference and use Save Changes where offered. Keep Gmail access over HTTPS; there is no reason to switch to an insecure connection to match the video.

Check the result

Reopen the relevant setting and test the behavior it controls, such as a signature, language or filter. A display preference does not change hosting DNS.

Troubleshooting and support

Missing sections can reflect account type, administrator policy or product changes. For external-account POP fetching, check Google's current transition notice rather than relying on the old video.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
