How to create and manage tasks in Gmail Print

  • 4

Quick answer

Use the Tasks side panel in Gmail to create task lists and reminders. Adding an email to Tasks creates a task reference; it does not send a reply or complete the work.

Applies to

For the intended Google/Gmail account. Google controls its login, settings and recovery. An Interactive Online cPanel login does not grant access to a Google account, and Gmail is separate from cPanel-hosted mail. The video shows an older interface.

Steps

  1. Open Gmail for the intended Google account and select Tasks in the side panel.
  2. Choose the appropriate list, add a task and enter useful details and a due date when needed.
  3. For an email-related task, use the message's Add to Tasks action where available and confirm the link points to the intended conversation.
  4. Mark tasks complete only when the work is done. Review the selected list before moving or deleting tasks.

Check the result

Reopen Tasks, confirm the item is in the right account/list and test its related-email link. Verify any reminder behavior separately.

Troubleshooting and support

If the panel or action is absent, check the Google account, administrator settings and current Tasks availability.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
