WHM and cPanel: access and differences Print

  • 4

Quick answer

cPanel manages one hosting account. WHM provides the account-management tools permitted to a reseller or server administrator; it is not automatically included with every website plan.

Applies to

For an authorized reseller or administrator whose Interactive Online service includes the relevant WHM permission. Ordinary website hosting uses cPanel and does not imply WHM or root access. Work only with accounts you own or are explicitly authorized to administer. The video is an older interface reference.

Steps

  1. Use cPanel for files, domains, mail and databases within your own hosting account.
  2. Use WHM only for the reseller/account-management tasks your service permits. Open Account Information > List Accounts to inspect accounts within that scope.
  3. Use an offered cPanel sign-on link only for an account you are authorized to support. Administrative sign-on is not a reason to request or share its password.

Check the result

Confirm the identity and account context in the destination interface before making a change.

Troubleshooting and support

If WHM is absent, use your service's cPanel link or ask support which access your plan includes.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
