How to change your password in WordPress Print

  • 4

Quick answer

Change your WordPress password in the authorized profile/account-security controls. It is separate from cPanel, mailbox and database passwords.

Applies to

For a WordPress site you are authorized to edit. Your WordPress role, installed theme, plugins and editor determine the available controls. Hosting access does not automatically establish WordPress administrator access. The video shows an older version.

Steps

  1. Confirm the intended WordPress user and working recovery address. Open Users > Profile or the current account profile menu.
  2. Use the password controls to set a strong unique replacement and save it securely. Complete Update Profile or the version's confirmation step.
  3. Update authorized saved logins and review active sessions/security options appropriate to the site.

Check the result

Test a fresh login through the trusted WordPress URL and retain a supported recovery route.

Troubleshooting and support

If you cannot sign in, use the site's password-recovery or owner support process. Do not put credentials into a ticket or change a database password to solve a WordPress login issue.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
