Quick answer
Create WordPress users with the minimum role needed for their work. Check content ownership and recovery before deleting a user.
Applies to
For a WordPress site you are authorized to edit. Your WordPress role, installed theme, plugins and editor determine the available controls. Hosting access does not automatically establish WordPress administrator access. The video shows an older version.
Steps
- Open Users > All Users and confirm who needs access and what tasks they must perform.
- Choose Add New User when needed, enter the correct owner-controlled address and select the appropriate role. Use the supported secure setup/invitation flow.
- Review existing users individually. Before deletion, choose whether their content must be reassigned to an authorized owner and verify required records.
Check the result
Confirm the intended user and role, then have the authorized user verify the required access. Check public content ownership after a reassignment.
Troubleshooting and support
A missing Users menu can mean your role lacks permission or the site is multisite-managed. Do not share an administrator login to bypass that boundary.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
