Quick answer
Manage plugins through Plugins > Installed Plugins with an authorized role. Back up the site before an update, activation or removal that could affect its behavior.
Applies to
For a WordPress site you are authorized to edit. Your WordPress role, installed theme, plugins and editor determine the available controls. Hosting access does not automatically establish WordPress administrator access. The video shows an older version.
Steps
- Record the plugin and version and check why the site needs it, including any existing overlap.
- Use Installed Plugins for the intended action or Add New Plugin to install an official, appropriate package. Check compatibility and licensing before activating it.
- Make one planned change, then test. Deactivation is different from deletion; uninstalling can remove settings or stored data. Avoid editing a vendor plugin in the built-in file editor.
Check the result
Test the affected feature, administration, forms and public pages. Keep a recovery route if activation breaks access.
Troubleshooting and support
For a conflict, collect the exact plugin/version and redacted error. Use staging to isolate the problem rather than disabling every plugin on a live site.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
