Quick answer
Recreate the signature in your supported mail client and assign it to the correct account. The old Windows Mail signature setting may not migrate automatically.
Applies to
Historical reference for the retired Windows Mail application, not current new Outlook. Microsoft ended Windows Mail, Calendar and People support on December 31, 2024. Preserve local data and move to a supported client; the old app is not a reliable current sending/receiving workflow.
Steps
- Record the public signature text and any owned images/links you need to retain.
- Open the supported client's signature controls and choose the intended account/identity.
- Set new-message/reply behavior as available and test before using it with customers.
Check the result
Inspect a received test for text, links and readability. Confirm the right From identity uses it.
Troubleshooting and support
If formatting or images fail, simplify the signature and check supported formats. A signature on one device is not necessarily shared with another.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
