Quick answer
Upload only the reviewed public files to the correct remote document root. Confirm overwrite decisions and the transfer result before calling a website update complete.
Applies to
For FileZilla Client on your own computer and an authorized Interactive Online hosting login. Our file-transfer workflow uses SFTP over SSH; FTP access is retired. Select SFTP, use the assigned server and SSH port, and authenticate as the eligible cPanel account with an authorized key. Legacy FTP-only subaccounts cannot sign in to SFTP. Check the connection guide for your server and port.
Steps
- Connect securely and verify the domain's document root in cPanel Domains. Preserve the existing files you intend to replace.
- In FileZilla, choose the intended local files and the exact remote destination. Exclude private keys, .env files, backups and unrelated project folders.
- Transfer the files and review overwrite prompts individually or according to the approved update plan. Check Failed transfers and the completed queue.
Check the result
Compare representative transferred files or hashes and test the actual public URL, links, media and required forms. A completed queue is not proof the correct folder was chosen.
Troubleshooting and support
If the old page appears, check the remote path and relevant caches. Do not repeatedly upload the whole project or delete unknown files to force a refresh.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
