Before you begin
Record the code, error message, cart, customer eligibility, market, and test time. Avoid changing a live promotion repeatedly while customers are using it.
What to do
- Open Discounts and locate the code. Review its active dates, usage limit, eligible products or collections, customer rules, and minimum requirement.
- Compare those conditions with the failing cart, including quantities and any excluded or subscription items.
- Review combination settings and any automatic or app-created discount already present. A price display or compare-at price is not proof that a checkout discount applies.
- Test the code with an eligible comparison cart and the original failing cart. Stop before completing a real order unless a purchase is actually intended.
Check the result
Confirm the discount line, total, and shipping result. Document which scenario now works and which remains ineligible, so support can distinguish a configuration rule from a failure.
If the problem continues
If a one-use code is reported used but no matching order exists, check for an unfinished payment attempt before creating a duplicate promotion. Provide Shopify or the discount-app provider with the exact message and sanitized case.
