Quick answer
WHM Password Modification changes the selected cPanel account credential. Confirm ownership and dependent connections before resetting it.
Applies to
For an authorized reseller or administrator whose Interactive Online service includes the relevant WHM permission. Ordinary website hosting uses cPanel and does not imply WHM or root access. Work only with accounts you own or are explicitly authorized to administer. The video is an older interface reference.
Steps
- Identify the exact account/domain and the authority for the reset. Arrange a secure access handoff.
- Open Account Functions > Password Modification, select that account and enter a strong unique replacement through the secure form.
- Save and update authorized connections that use the account credential. Mailbox and database-user passwords are separate.
Check the result
Verify a fresh sign-in through the trusted service link and test affected connections.
Troubleshooting and support
If the wrong account is selected or the reset fails, stop before further attempts and contact support. Never request the password in a ticket.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
