Quick answer
WHM's skeleton directory supplies initial files for newly created accounts. Changes there do not automatically replace files in existing customer websites.
Applies to
For an authorized reseller or administrator whose Interactive Online service includes the relevant WHM permission. Ordinary website hosting uses cPanel and does not imply WHM or root access. Work only with accounts you own or are explicitly authorized to administer. The video is an older interface reference.
Steps
- Open Account Functions > Skeleton Directory and read the exact path provided for your authorized reseller account.
- Prepare minimal public starter content in the expected subdirectory, such as public_html. Exclude credentials, backups, private configuration and unrelated project files.
- Use an authorized secure file-transfer route to place only the intended files. Check any automatically copied hidden files.
Check the result
Inspect the result in a separately authorized empty test account. Confirm existing customer sites were not treated as deployment targets.
Troubleshooting and support
If starter content does not appear, compare the actual skeleton path and expected subdirectories. Do not copy an entire production site into the skeleton.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
