Quick answer
A mail route trace helps identify how the server would route an address. It does not prove that a remote mailbox exists or that a message reached an Inbox.
Applies to
For an authorized reseller or administrator whose Interactive Online service includes the relevant WHM permission. Ordinary website hosting uses cPanel and does not imply WHM or root access. Work only with accounts you own or are explicitly authorized to administer. The video is an older interface reference.
Steps
- Record the sender, recipient, time and exact failure symptom using redacted evidence.
- Use the permitted Mail Troubleshooter, mail delivery report or route-trace tool for the address. Read the full routing/error result.
- Compare the route with actual delivery events and the destination provider's MX records.
Check the result
Perform a controlled send/receive test and inspect the actual failure or acceptance result. Keep SMTP acceptance separate from Inbox placement.
Troubleshooting and support
For a remote rejection, provide support with the exact code and timestamp. Do not repeatedly send to random addresses to test the trace tool.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
