How to limit bandwidth usage in WHM Print

  • 4

Quick answer

WHM bandwidth limits control the permitted account transfer usage reported by that service. They are different from storage, CPU, memory and network-speed guarantees.

Applies to

For an authorized reseller or administrator whose Interactive Online service includes the relevant WHM permission. Ordinary website hosting uses cPanel and does not imply WHM or root access. Work only with accounts you own or are explicitly authorized to administer. The video is an older interface reference.

Steps

  1. Open the permitted bandwidth usage report and confirm the account, reporting period, current usage and displayed units.
  2. Use Limit Bandwidth Usage for the exact account and enter an authorized allowance within reseller capacity. Record the previous value.
  3. Save and check whether any package relationship or over-limit restriction also needs attention.

Check the result

Reopen the saved limit and account report, then test the affected service. Allow for normal usage-reporting delays.

Troubleshooting and support

If usage is unexpected, investigate traffic and the actual service limit with support. Increasing bandwidth does not resolve a separate CPU or disk issue.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
