Quick answer
Create the form, configure its Mail settings and embed it on the intended page. A success message alone does not prove that a notification reached the recipient.
Applies to
For a WordPress site you are authorized to edit. Your WordPress role, installed theme, plugins and editor determine the available controls. Hosting access does not automatically establish WordPress administrator access. The video shows an older version.
Steps
- Back up the site and install/activate the official plugin only if it fits the existing form setup. Open Contact > Contact Forms or Add New.
- Give the form a descriptive name, review field labels/required data and save. In Mail, use an authorized From address for the sending service and a validated visitor Reply-To field where appropriate.
- Set the intended notification recipient and message fields. Review configuration errors and choose compatible spam protection through current Integration options. Keep secret keys in the protected settings.
- Embed the saved form using its supported block/shortcode on the intended page, then publish the approved page change.
Check the result
Test required-field errors, a complete controlled submission and actual notification receipt. Check any configured submission storage separately.
Troubleshooting and support
If mail fails, distinguish form validation, server sending and destination rejection. Contact Form 7 does not itself guarantee stored submissions or delivery.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
