How to install and set up Duplicate Post in WordPress Print

  • 4

Quick answer

Clone a post/page into an unpublished draft when you need a starting point. Review copied metadata and permissions before publishing it as distinct content.

Applies to

For a WordPress site you are authorized to edit. Your WordPress role, installed theme, plugins and editor determine the available controls. Hosting access does not automatically establish WordPress administrator access. The video shows an older version.

Steps

  1. Back up the site and confirm the intended source item and author rights. Install/activate the official Duplicate Post plugin if needed.
  2. Review its copy fields, allowed roles, supported post types and link/display settings. Exclude metadata that must not be reused.
  3. Use Clone or New Draft as offered, then edit the title, slug, content, media and relevant SEO fields. Keep the copy unpublished during review.

Check the result

Confirm the source remains correct and the duplicate has the intended draft/status, owner and URL.

Troubleshooting and support

If unexpected custom fields are copied or omitted, review the plugin's settings and content type. Do not publish near-identical pages solely to create article volume.

If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
