Quick answer

A shipping error usually means that the cart, address, location, market, or rate provider does not match an eligible shipping option. Reproduce the exact cart before changing rates.

Applies to

For the owner or authorized staff of the selected Shopify store, with the permissions needed for this task. Shopify hosts the store separately from a cPanel hosting account. Features and workflows depend on the current Shopify plan, theme and apps.

Before you begin

Record the products and variants, quantities, destination, market, discount, and error. Shopify is gradually moving some stores from shipping profiles to shipping options by market, so identify the interface your store uses.

What to do

  1. Confirm that the destination is served by an active market and the relevant shipping configuration.
  2. Check the products' shipping requirements, weights, assigned profile or option, and available fulfillment location. Review the origin address and package details for calculated rates.
  3. Review rate conditions for gaps in weight or order amount. For price thresholds, account for discounts and the applicable pre-tax cart value.
  4. If an app supplies the rate, check its eligible service area, account status, and any store-plan requirement. Test a simple cart separately from a mixed-location or mixed-profile cart.

Check the result

Retest the original failing cart and a normal comparison cart using valid served addresses. Confirm the customer sees an appropriate price, not merely that the error disappeared.

If the problem continues

If Shopify settings look correct but the app gives no quote, give its provider the sanitized cart, destination, timestamp, and error. Avoid adding an unrestricted free rate simply to hide the failure.
