Quick answer
Configure Yoast with accurate site identity and appropriate content visibility, then review each important page's title, description and canonical behavior. The plugin does not guarantee rankings.
Applies to
For a WordPress site you are authorized to edit. Your WordPress role, installed theme, plugins and editor determine the available controls. Hosting access does not automatically establish WordPress administrator access. The video shows an older version.
Steps
- Back up the site and check for another SEO plugin that already controls the same metadata. Install/activate the official Yoast plugin only if appropriate.
- Follow the current first-time configuration for the real site and organization/person information. The old wizard's names and Search Console authentication steps may differ.
- Review search appearance, indexability and sitemaps for the actual content types. Use truthful titles/descriptions and avoid indexing private or duplicate pages.
- Validate any verification connection using the current official provider flow. Avoid publishing credentials or inventing author details to fill a field.
Check the result
Inspect the public page source and relevant sitemap, then use available search-platform reports. A green analysis score is not proof of indexing or search visibility.
Troubleshooting and support
If metadata duplicates or URLs become excluded unexpectedly, check overlapping plugins and the exact indexability/canonical settings before changing sitewide options.
If the problem continues, contact support from the account that owns the service. Include the domain, exact error, time and time zone, tool name, and a redacted screenshot. Keep passwords, private keys, cookies and private message content out of the ticket.
