Quick answer
Record only the items that are actually being shipped and attach the correct carrier tracking. Marking an order fulfilled does not itself hand the parcel to a carrier.
Applies to
For the owner or authorized staff of the selected Shopify store, with the permissions needed for this task. Shopify hosts the store separately from a cPanel hosting account. Features and workflows depend on the current Shopify plan, theme and apps.
Before you begin
Verify payment, the shipping address, quantities, and fulfillment location. Check fraud or fulfillment holds and determine whether your staff or an external service controls the shipment.
What to do
- Open Orders and select the order. For stock at a location you control, use the available fulfillment action and choose the quantities in this shipment.
- Add the tracking number and check the detected carrier. If detection is wrong, select the correct carrier or provide its tracking URL.
- Review whether the customer should receive the shipping notification, then confirm the fulfillment after checking its details.
- For a partial shipment, leave the remaining quantities unfulfilled. If an app or warehouse owns fulfillment, follow that service's supported request process instead of creating a competing shipment.
Check the result
Open the tracking link and confirm that it belongs to this shipment. Check the order's remaining quantities and customer-facing status page. A label or tracking number can exist before the first carrier scan.
If the problem continues
If tracking is wrong or stale, compare it with the carrier and the source app. Give support the order number, carrier, tracking result, and integration name. Canceling a Shopify fulfillment does not guarantee that a warehouse has stopped shipping.
